Origin

Where It Started

This was one of the first real moments. A young guitarist stepping on stage for the first time — not in a bedroom, but in front of people. His first real steps on electric guitar started with lessons at Guitar4U, before moving deeper into the blues with guitarist Niels Onstenk.

Influences

The Musical Root

The sound starts in Texas blues, with the fire of Stevie Ray Vaughan and the depth of B.B. King, Albert King and Freddie King.

These influences are not copied, but carried forward in a sound built for the stage.

The Band

Gerbman & Blues Flood is a Rotterdam-based Texas blues power trio built around feel, interaction and live energy. Together with drummer Dick Sol and bassist Johan Bravenboer, Gerbman brings a set rooted in blues, groove and improvisation.

Since childhood, Gerbman has spent thousands of hours studying blues guitar, learning songs, analyzing players, playing live, making mistakes and trying again.

His philosophy is simple. The talent is not in the hands. The talent is in the discipline to keep getting better every day.

Guitar & Vocals

Tone-first. Feel-first. The guitar does the talking.

Frontman and guitarist. On stage he is focused, direct and expressive — Stratocasters through Fender tube amps, a pedalboard stacked for purpose. His playing is built around dynamics and phrasing, where the space between notes matters as much as the notes themselves.

Dick Sol

Drums

Groove that locks in and does not let go.

Dick Sol has been behind a kit his whole life. He plays with control and an instinct for when to push and when to breathe. His shuffle is deep, his timing is solid, and his live instinct keeps the band honest. He and Gerbman played together before Blues Flood — that history shows every time.

Johan Bravenboer

Bass

The low end that gives the band its weight.

Johan anchors the trio with feel, restraint and a clear sense of what a blues bass line is supposed to do — hold the groove, support the guitar and leave space for the music to breathe. His experience in the Dutch blues scene means he knows the difference between playing with the room and fighting it.
